Nana Basoa wins Council Of State election to represent Ahafo Region

Ɔmanhene Korɔankɔhene of Duayaw Nkwanta traditional council, Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Ameyaw Basoa known in private life as Mr. Ameyaw Yaw Basoa has won the election to represent Ahafo Region as a Council of State Member.

Nana Basoa as he is affectionately called competed against 4 equally formidable contesters which included: Mr. Akuoko Stephen Kwabena, Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Sarpong, Mr. Kwaku Dwomor Kessey, and Mrs. Cecilia Gyan Amoah.

There was another candidate who goes by the name, Mr. Gyambibi Frank but he dropped out of the race at the eleventh hour.

At the end of the keenly contested election, Nana Basoa, a native of Duayaw Nkwanta pulled all 12 votes in the election. His competitors got none of the votes.

With no objections and complaints of foul play, the Electoral Commission declared Nana Basoa the winner of the Council Of State Election to represent the Ahafo Region. The election took place at Regional Office in Goaso.

Nana Yaw Basoa who is a businessman, farmer, and philanthropist won the Tano North Municipal Best Farmer Award in 2020. He obtained his GCE O’Level certificate at Bechem Presbyterian Secondary School in 1972.

He went on to study the German language when he had the opportunity to travel to Germany to further his studies. He also studied Communication in the United States of America. He is married with children.

He has been a blessing to the people of not just his native town, Duayaw-Nkwanta but also to the region as a whole. He donated $12,000 worth of Incubator to the St. John of God Hospital in Duayaw-Nkwanta when it was urgently needed to save lives.

In his own way of fighting the Covid-19 Pandemic, Nana Yaw Basoa donated ₵10,000 to the Tano North Municipal Assembly to purchase PPEs.

Nana Basoa helped in the construction of rooms for both the male and female prisoners at the Duayw Nkwanta Prisons. He also supported the fire service in Duayaw-Nkwanta by donating computers to help their work.

In Education in the Municipality, Nana Basoa has given scholarships to not less than 20 brilliant but needy students to further their education at the tertiary level. He has also built school blocks for the village of Akokɔ Ammɔn in the same Municipality.

It’s worthy to note that, Nana Boaso hosted all the chiefs in Ahafo Region at his private residence in Duayaw-Nkwanta where the decision to demand the creation of Ahafo Region was conceived, planned, and executed to a successful outcome.
